Omaha Beach

The Plage des Sables d’Or opens at low tide, and the coastal path links Colleville-sur-Mer to Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer. The cliff borders the seafront; the Rangers Memorial College and its blockhouses stand along the way. Blockhouses, bunkers and the memorial mark the route. As the tide goes out, the sand flats spread out at the foot of the blockhouses: that is the ground of the "walking in the sea" variant.
